Commissioner Tools

Circle Ten Council is nearing the time when we will be transitioning from the Unit Visit Tracking System to Commissioner Tools. The Council will make this change on December 1st.

To use Commissioner Tools successfully, our commissioners need to understand continuous improvement (what we call Journey to Excellence), unit assessment, and the Unit Service Plan. We will be providing you with information about each of these to help you prepare.

There are a number of tasks that need to be performed by each individual commissioner prior to the council going “live” on the system:

  • Get all Commissioners registered at my.Scouting.org (if you complete this step, you will be able to access Commissioner Tools when the Council goes “live”) – note that you must load your member id into the profile in the old myscouting.org in order to have the proper access
  • Verify that all the information in my.Scouting.org is correct
  • Verify that email addresses have been included
  • Work with Units to understand Key 3 concept, value and benefits
  • Get Unit Leaders set-up with my.Scouting.org accounts and verify all of their information is correct, especially email addresses
  • Understand the new Unit Service Plan
  • UVTS entries need to be as current as possible prior to adoption date. Commissioner Tools only allows entries for the last 60 days.

A feature called “the sandbox” is a demonstration site that will become available around the 1st of October. This will be a demonstration site for commissioners tools that each of us can sign into to learn how to use the tool. National will also conduct 2 or 3 webinars a month also starting in October. As more information becomes available, we will start to schedule training on the tools. We hope to spend a good deal of time on commissioner tools during our Commissioners fellowship weekend in November. If anyone has any questions, contact your Commissioner Tools Champion, Dave Fornadel at d.fornadel@verizon.net.
